Sheet of 35 Elvis Presley 25 cent Stamps MUH

A$85.00

The long-awaited Elvis Presley 29 Cent stamp appeared after a year-long campaign on January 8, 1993, with a special midnight first-day celebration. The widely read volume also served as the launch of the comprehensive Legends of American Music series.

There has been a strong demand for a stamp commemorating Elvis Presley across the nation ever since his passing in 1977. As soon as he became qualified to appear on a US stamp a decade later, demand for his likeness skyrocketed.

Anthony M. Frank, the Postmaster General, first raised the possibility of issuing a stamp in Presley’s and other notable American musicians’ honor in 1988.

In 1992, USPS announced that Elvis, along with other well-known American singers, would be featured in a new series of stamps.
