Error 2003 India 5 Rupees Broadstike error

A broadstrike error coin is a coin struck without the collar, causing it to expand beyond its normal diameter while retaining all design details.

What Is a Broadstrike Coin?

A broadstrike coin occurs when a coin is struck without the retaining collar, the metal ring that normally constrains the planchet and shapes the coin’s edge. Without the collar, the metal spreads outward, producing a wider, flatter coin with misshapen edges. Unlike off-center strikes, broadstrike coins retain the full design on both faces, making them distinct and collectible. If the design is cut off, the coin is classified as an off-center strike instead.
